Free Full-Day Kindergarten

Free Full Day Kindergarten starts Fall 2019

Free full-day kindergarten started in Jeffco Public Schools in Fall, 2019.

Free full-day kindergarten was a campaign initiative from Governor Jared Polis and has been presented and signed as House Bill 19-1262 – State Funding for Full-day Kindergarten. The Polis Administration is committed to ensuring that free full-day kindergarten is available to every child in every community in Colorado.

What this means for Jeffco Families

Three kindergarten boys sport funny hair on Crazy Hair Day Kindergarten is currently not a requirement in Colorado. However, research shows that starting students on their academic path in kindergarten (ages 5-6) promotes children's enthusiasm, initiative, persistence, and engagement in learning.

Starting in August 2019, all full-day kindergarten programs in Jeffco will be free. For some families, this is a savings of almost $3000 a year. How is this funded
