Linking Students from Classroom to Careers

Jeffco Career Links is a one-stop resource for industries and schools. Our goal is to provide resources and tools in order to build connections between classrooms and careers. In addition, Career Links will support the work-based learning opportunities for students to ensure that their experiences are connected to their learning targets. The Career Links team is committed to providing support to your school in order to support quality programming for your students.

Learn About Work

Career Awareness and Exploration

Learn about work through specific exploration activities designed to help students better understand the types of careers available and the ability to explore career options.

Career Exploration Fair/Expo

An opportunity for industry to provide valuable information for students on specific careers within their industry. These events include sharing materials and providing hands-on experiences.

Career Presentation/Guest Speaker

Industry professionals design and present about all aspects of their industry to students.

Industry Interview

Students identify and interview a professional in the industry that they are interested in exploring.

Industry Mentorship

An industry professional builds a relationship with students through ongoing career coaching. This includes the professional sharing their experiences with a group of no more than five students.

Job Shadow

A work experience option where students learn about a job by following an industry partner for a day.

Project or Problem Based Learning

An opportunity for students to explore an industry identified problem or project. The work is completed at the school and involves students presenting their learning to industry experts.

Worksite Tour

An opportunity for students to learn beyond the classroom and visit industry. This experience allows students to observe and investigate activities related to a specific career and pathway.

Learning Through Work

Career Preparation

Learning through work is an opportunity for students to experience a career through extended learning opportunities outside of a traditional classroom. These experiences require a strong, collaborative partnership. These experiences will need to be co-developed between the district, school, and industry partner.

Workplace Experience

An experience where students can learn transferable skills that prepares them for the workforce. This experience is essentially an entry level position within the specified place of employment. This opportunity must be connected to a classroom component related to a Career and Technical Education program.


An opportunity for exposure to the requirements of a particular industry and the behavioral expectations for success on the job. These experiences are expected to provide formal training for occupational skills.


Services and programs, including classroom instruction, designed to prepare students to enter and succeed in Registered Apprenticeship (RA) programs.
