World Languages

What is World Language Education?

World Language programs in Jeffco invite students to explore the world and their place in it through the study of languages and cultures. Jeffco offers courses in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Spanish. We also offer Spanish for Heritage Speakers to honor and support the development and maintenance of heritage language. Included among our dedicated faculty are native and heritage speakers, as well as nationally certified and award winning educators. Jeffco strives to educate students to become communicatively proficient and globally competent in languages other than English with curriculum aligned to to national (ACTFL) standards and by offering opportunities for students to use their cultural and linguistic knowledge outside of the classroom, with travel abroad, cultural events, performances and competitions.

Why World Language Education?

Language, culture, and communication are at the heart of the human experience. Students proficient in other languages and cultures increase their opportunities for future work, study and travel. Learning language is not only fun and engaging, but research shows that acquiring a second language boosts brain power, improves memory, improves first language skills and improves performance in other academic areas.
